Closing student dormitories

The Decree comes into force on 24 October 2020

Dear residents of ŠDL,

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has on 23 October 2020, due to the extremely serious epidemiological situation in the country, adopted the "Decree on the temporary ban on the gathering of people in institutions in the field of education and universities and independent higher education institutions" (hereinafter: the Decree).

The Decree comes into force the day after it is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic  of Slovenia, t.i. on 24 October 2020, and it begins to apply on Monday, 26 October 2020. The Government of Slovenia will be checking the professional justification of measures every seven days and will extend them if applicable, taking into consideration the epidemiologic situation in the country.

This Decree temporarily prohibits the gathering of people in student dormitories in Slovenia, which means that all residents must leave dormitories, except:

  • students, who have permanent residence in a dormitory,
  • student families, and
  • foreign students and visiting professors, who are prevented from returning to their place of residence due to the current security situation.

All other residents (except for the mentioned exceptions), in accordance with the Decree, are obliged to temporarily return home as soon as possible or leave the student dormitory no later than on 25 October 2020 by midnight.

Before heading home, please make sure that you have removed perishable food from the refrigerator, that you have turned off the lights and the stove, closed all the windows and water, and locked the door of the room/apartment. Since we do not know how long the measure will last, we suggest that you take all the necessary things with you when you leave the dormitory. It will not be possible to come to dormitories during the implementation of the measure.

Residents, who remain in ŠDL within the scope of mentioned exceptions, must strictly comply with the Extraordinary instructions for stay at Študentski dom Ljubljana to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease and the measures and recommendations of the competent institutions. In addition, you must fill out the Statement of the resident on the fulfillment of the condition of exceptions and send it signed as soon as possible to the email address: izjeme@stud-dom-lj.si. It is not possible to stay in ŠDL without a completed and signed statement.
