Closing student dormitories on 1 April 2021
Dear residents of ŠDL,
The Government of the Republic of Slovenia has on 28 March 2021 adopted the "Decree on the temporary ban on the gathering of people in institutions in the field of education and universities and independent higher education institutions" (hereinafter: the Decree).
The Decree comes into force on 1 April 2021 and is valid until 11 April 2021 inclusive.
This Decree temporarily prohibits the gathering of people in student dormitories in Slovenia, which means that all residents must leave dormitories, except:
- students who have permanent residence in a dormitory,
- student families, and
- foreign students and visiting professors who are prevented from returning to their place of residence due to the current security situation.
In addition, we were informed that residents who perform important tasks for the state (e.g. tasks in call centres, assistance in health care institutions, educational institutions etc.) may remain in student dormitories in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of 24 October 2020, which is still in force.
We have asked the Minister of Education, Science and Sport for additional clarifications regarding the implementation of the Decree, which we will inform you about.
